About Me
Miss Faith Appelbaum
Hi, my name is Faith Appelbaum. I am currently a long- term third grade special education teacher in Lakewood, New Jersey. I have 105 credit hours from Rider University: where I am studied Elementary Education and Multidisciplinary Studies with a concentration in History and a dual minor in Special Education and Early Childhood. I have always had a passion for teaching and helping children from a young age. Teaching is something I have always seen myself doing. As a child, I looked up to the teachers I had and wanted to be just like them. When I was at Rider University I was highly involved. I was an active member of Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society (KPD), the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), and the Student Education Association (SEA).
My love for teaching and helping children has grown through my experiences in the field. Over the years in different school experiences I have found a passions for students of all walks of life. Currently I am in Lakewood, New Jersey and these children have taught me so much about myself. Not only have they taught me have to be a stronger culturally responsive teacher they taught me how important it is to listen to them. They have help foster my love to teach and build relationships with students. I have learn that if you do not have a strong relationship it is hard for them to come to you when they need it. I have also fostered my love for teaching through being a unit counselor at my local Girl Scout camp, where I have been for five years. Here I have been with a range of children from three to thirteen. During my time at Girl Scouts I have learned that if children do not have time for creativity and imagionation it is hard to help the grow in life. Here I would allow time for time with make believe everything from fairies to things they would make up.
From a young age, I have always been involved in my community. I have done many charity walks, from raising for breast cancer awareness to, Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Light The Night Leukemia Lymphoma Society, and so much more. Also, for as long as I can remember, I have been an active member of the non-profit organization of Girl Scouts. Within this, I have also given back to my community.
